The cities of the ancient Silk Road
attracted travelers for so long time. In Soviet period travelers were offered a
very limited view through the state Intourist agency.
With the independence of Central Asian republics, tourists are finally free to
explore this magnificent region.
Follow the Golden Road to Samarkand, the Royal Road from Noble Bukhara,
cross the Kyzyl Kum Desert
to Khiva, back to the modern day capital of
Uzbekistan Tashkent . Walk in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, Genghis
Khan, Marco Polo and Amir Timur
(Tamerlane).
Tour the great monuments left from
Zoroastrian and Islamic civilizations.
Experience the richness of craft
traditions including ceramics, textiles, silk weavers, jewelers, block
printers, and hat and carpet makers. "Robinson" invites you to come

Itinerary:
Day 1
Early morning arrival to Tashkent.
Accommodations in the families. After dinner: sightseeing of Tashkent.

Day 2
Continue tour of Tashkent. Visit mosques
and other religious buildings. Stroll through and do some shopping in downtown
Tashkent. Bazar. Theatre.
Day 3
Travel along the Golden Road to Samarkand by private mini-bus(es)
(4,5 hours). Accommodation and settle into the old city. Relax in the traditional
surroundings of an Uzbek home or stroll through the curving ancient city
streets.
Days 4 -5
Take a walking tour of Samarkand's
old city including the Registan, Gur
Emir, Bibi Khanum Mosque,
Shah-i-Zinda, and Ulug Beg
Observatory, bazar.
Day 6
Drive to the ancient city of Shakhrisabz, birthplace of Amir Timur (1.5
hours). Walking tour to the Ak Sarai Palace. Return to Samarkand.
Day 7
Carpetfabrik, old-town Afrosiab, spare time.
Day 8
Follow the Royal Road to Nurata (4 hours). Accommodation
in the yurtas in
the desert. Camels" riding.
Day 9
Aider-Kool-Lake, bathing, diner,
way to Bukhara. Accommodation in the hotel***.
Days 10 -11
Stay in the old city and relax beside the
Lab-i-Hauz pool, exactly as traders from unrecorded
time.
Visiting of ancient architecture of
trading cathedrals, the Ark fortress, Kalon Minaret, Zindon prison, and the Mausoleum of Ismail
Samani.
Day 12
Drive through the Kyzyl
Kum Desert to Khiva, the
most intact and remote of Central Asia's Silk Road cities. Enjoy a picnic lunch
by the Amu Darya (Oxus) River, organized by Robinson (7 hours).
Accommodation. Walking tour through the old city. Experience the richness of
this museum city that keeps the most homogenous collection of architecture in
the Islamic world.

through the old city.

Back to Bukhara.
